Family Worship Night

2 Days ago we crammed about 60 people into our new house for a time of Love. Love for God and Love for each other. It was an awesome night of food, fellowship and worship. A video can never quite tell the full story but our hope is that these clips will provide a glimpse of how sweet of a night it was.

Glory In Myanmar

This is a video of a recent crusade in Myanmar that some friends of ours were involved in. Myanmar has been closed to the gospel but the doors are opening and Gods love is crashing in.

Identity Is Not What You Do, Its Who You Are

If what I do determines who I am then my identity is in a constant state of changing. But if I know my identity, then do, the thing that changes is how I do it. All of us at one point in our lives have been asked the question, "So, What do you do?" implying, what is your job or profession, which there really is nothing wrong with asking. The problem that I am trying to point out is that we have come to a place where what we do defines who we think we are, and who others perceive us to be. What you do is not who you are.

My last name is 'Weaver'. I did not choose this name, I got it because my parents were Weaver's and their parents were Weaver's and so on. And if you trace my ancestry far enough down the line you will find that at some point in history my family received the name of 'Weaver' because it was my great, great, great, great, great grand daddy's profession of being a weaver. You see at some point in history my family got the name and label of 'Weaver' because it was what they did. But what we do is not who we are. You see how ingrained in us this actually is. Our thought patterns are completely backwards resulting in us believing that our value and identity come from what we do.

It actually doesn't matter at all what you do. It doesn't matter how much money you make or the car you drive. It doesn't matter if your making millions as a superstar athlete or a few bucks flipping burgers. What you do is irrelevant! Its about WHO you are. And who you are can't be earned.

It is so important as a believer to understand who you are in Christ and your identity in Him before you are capable of being effective in His kingdom.

Paul says this radical statement in the beginning of chapter 4 of Galatians, ".....that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognized as God's sons]. And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father! Therefore, you are no longer a slave (bond servant) but a son; and if a son, then [it follows that you are] an heir by the aid of God, through Christ."

We are SONS!!!!!

But Paul Goes on to say in Ephesians chapter 2, ".......And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]"

Our working does not produce Identity.
Our profession does not equate to Identity.

We are Sons by Grace!

Whether you like it or not, you did nothing to get the identity that you have in Christ. You do not earn your identity, you receive it.

Receive!
